“This year’s movie night finally happened yesterday. In addition to mainstays Aladdin and Dr Horrible’s Sing along blog, this year’s line up included Drop Dead Gorgeous and 21 Jump Street. Fun and minion cupcakes were had by all.
Today, we’re back to blog movies. Although admittedly my attention is split between how I’m falling asleep and the webmail notifier software I’m fighting with.
This is a bizarre little film. Unhappy Zia (Patrick Fugit) kills himself, and finds himself in a strange purgatory. This aimless world is a holding tank for suicide victims. He’s sort of ambling along until he he finds out that his girlfriend Desiree (Leslie Bibb) (and the main source of his initial depression) has also killed herself, and is wandering this purgatory looking for him. He teams up with Eugene (Shea Whigham) and Mikal (Shannyn Sossamon) and the trio embark on an epic roadtrip, trying to find Desiree or the people in charge or some purpose.
The tone is just weird, and it plays out kinda slow. Maybe I just don’t get it. Maybe I just wanna go to sleep right now.”
