“If you haven’t been to my homepage in a while, it got a shiny make over. A co-worker wanted to learn some front end coding techniques and needed a playground. This is why nerd friends are awesome! There’s still some work to do. Gotta find some way to add back the logo, the interior pages are still excel files, and I need to finally get hosting set up, but it’s still a vast improvement. Thanks Dan!
Holdover from the previous week, We’re the Millers. For whatever reason, nothing about it particularly grabbed me, but I still felt like it would be a fun trip to the movies. And it was! It might not have been the Judd Apatow/Kevin Smith/Parker and Stone type of comedy that I really love, but I still found things funny. The premise was unique, and the strange cast of characters meshed really well. Sure, some of the plot got what I tend to describe as a nightmare feel, where no matter what you do, you just can’t get out. But I cared more about seeing what the characters would say or do, than how the situation would resolve. That’s a win when it comes to comedy.
Speaking of resolution, I won’t give it away, but this has to be one of the most satisfying endings I’ve seen in a while. I didn’t quite expect it (then again, not the type of film where I’m actively trying to solve it) but it fit so well, and it made me happy. Also, be sure and stay thru the end credits for the blooper reel. The last one was pretty much worth the price of admission (7 bucks cause I caught an early show).
