“Yeah, I’m running kinda slow on this project, but after this write up I will complete Breaking Bad, thus getting rid of all current distractions. Besides, it’s not like I have a deadline or anything. Before I jump into this, I wanna give a shout out to the loyal reader I seem to have on RT who’s up voting all of my ExpDel007 write ups. Hi!!!
Not too hard to see where the title of this one comes from. It starts off with Bond employing one of the many staples of the spy genre, the faked death. Took us a while to get to his first one, but it won’t be the last he employs this tactic. It was only a matter of time. Also only a matter of time until Bond went into space. Yeah, that was kinda the natural progression after the recent ones. Well, we’re not at Moonraker levels of space, but it is at play here.
You know what else we have with this one? NINJAS! Well sure, if we’re in Japan, why not? Even the best spy needs a little help sometimes. Bond also goes face to face with Ernst Stavro Blofeld for the first time. With each movie, even more of Austin Powers makes sense to me. And another thing. How many times can 007 end up in a raft in the middle of the ocean with a girl at the end of the movie? Let’s hope there’s never an ex-Bond girl convention where they converse with each other about how he finally got to them. Awwwwkwaaaard
This movie’s theme wins for the song, loses for the credits. It’s not quite something that makes its way onto my playlist regularly, but it’s a very classic and recognizable tune. The credits were all realistic images, which as previously discussed, not my thing. I much prefer when it’s abstract and dark. Video of women and volcanoes, eh. This is one area where I’m really looking foward to the more recent releases.”
